Team Hoyt

Last Sunday service showed this clip from The Today Show about a heroic father Dick Hoyt who raised his son Rick (who graduated from college), born with cerebral palsy (he can’t walk and talk, but uses a special computer to communicate), didn’t give up on him, and for years have been competing together as a team in marathons and triathlons (they’re known as Team Hoyt…and yes, the 65-year old is in such great shape most guys half his age, like me, should be ashamed). According to their website:

For the past twenty five years or more Dick, who is 65, has pushed and pulled his son across the country and over hundreds of finish lines. When Dick runs, Rick is in a wheelchair that Dick is pushing. When Dick cycles, Rick is in the seat-pod from his wheelchair, attached to the front of the bike. When Dick swims, Rick is in a small but heavy, firmly stabilized boat being pulled by Dick.
